Muhurat Trading: BSE, NSE to conduct special trading session at this hour on Diwali 2024

Diwali 2024 Muhurat Trading Timings: It is that time of the year when investors prepare their playbooks for the special Muhurat trading session on Dalal Street as the country prepares for Diwali, the festival of light. Trading across the segments of equity, derivatives, commodities and securities lending and borrowing (SLB) will take place for an hour starting at 6 pm on November 1, according to separate circulars issued by stock exchanges BSE and NSE.   

BSE & NSE Announce Muhurat Trading Date & Timings 

This year, stock exchanges BSE and NSE will conduct the special Muhurat trading session on November 1 as the market enters Samvat 2081. 

In this special session, trading will take place for 60 minutes from 6 pm to 7 pm following a 15-minute pre-opening session.

What is Muhurat Trading? Why Is It Organised?

Muhurat trading is a special trading session conducted by both main bourses on Dalal Street on the auspicious day of Diwali, which marks the New Year as per the Vikram Samvat calendar—also known as the Vikrami calendar.

This day typically falls between mid-October and mid-November every year.

The special Muhurat trading session has its roots in Hindu tradition and culture, where Diwali is considered an auspicious occasion to make new beginnings and seek blessings for prosperity.
